Historical Perspectives on the Decline of Three Spiny Stickleback Species in Response to Poisoning in Témiscouata National Park (Quebec).
In the lakes of Témiscouata Park, another fish species, the three-spined stickleback, has been identified as exhibiting unique phenotypic adaptations and as a species of conservation concern due to historical anthropogenic poisoning of brook trout. We use sedimentary environmental DNA to explore the correlations between changes in stickleback abundance over time and the poisoning of a predatory fish, the brook trout, and other fish that compete for resources, the red-bellied dace and the bluefish.
